Women who donate eggs aren’t harming their chances of later becoming pregnant, a new study from Belgium finds.
Out of a group of 60 women who had donated eggs, 54 later became pregnant within a year of trying to conceive, and three more women became pregnant within 18 months of trying to conceive, all without reproductive assistance, the findings showed.

From raising public awareness of donation to making the process less off-putting, could these steps see giving eggs and sperm become somewhat more common to talk about or do?
IVF clinics aren’t doing enough to encourage people to donate eggs and sperm, the head of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), the fertility watchdog, has suggested.
In a new push to raise awareness of egg and sperm donation, chair of the HFEA Lisa Jardine has said she wanted egg donation to become as “obvious as blood donation”.

Infertility takes its toll. It wreaks havoc on our finances, our bodies, our
marriages, our friendships, our identities and sometimes our souls. All we want is a child
to love, care for, nurture, and endow with all that we have fantasized for years.

I would very much appreciate your advice. We have twins, four years old, conceived using an anonymous donor’s eggs. We have always felt that they should be told the truth about how they were conceived.
I would be very grateful for any advice you would have for us. Is it still felt that it is best to tell the children how they were conceived, even though they will never be able to trace the donor?

I have been asked so many times since I started all of this: “Why donate your eggs?” I don’t have one specific answer – I have dozens of reasons, and you’ll probably get a different answer every day.

We have access to more U.S. egg donor and surrogate databases than anyone in the world. We are the best bet for finding the donor or surrogate who most closely fits your requirements and is currently available to donate. We can save you valuable time and aggravation.

I’ve found another reason that red wine is good for you. A few months back, I was having drinks with a friend from Google at the Four Seasons Silicon Valley. It turned out that both of us were planning an IVF cycle.

You’re not using them. A few people freaked out when I told them I was doing this and got really sad for me and said, “But why are you giving away all your eggs?!” It’s actually not quite that dire.
